Hopwood’s property, which has been described as one of the most beautiful houses in the city, is currently valued at $4.9 million.
The property, located at 100 East Main Street, was sold for $4,527,400 in April and is expected to sell for $6.2 million in 2018, according to real estate listings site Realtor.com.
Hopwood is located just blocks from the intersection of South Main and West Main Streets and just steps from the iconic Fremont BART Station.
According to Realtors.com, the property’s price tag is “likely to drop” if the property is sold, and it is believed that the property could fetch a price around $2 million.
In February, the City of Fremont announced it would begin a $1 million appraisal process on the property, and a new listing is expected in the coming weeks.
The City will continue to monitor the property as it prepares the sale, and the sale will likely be made to buyers with existing financial relationships with the property.
Hopcraft, which is owned by the City, has had its house listed on Real Estate Agents Association’s (REAA) listing service since November 2015.
The City announced in February that the house would be purchased by the family of Peter Hopcraft, who passed away in March.
Peter’s mother, Joanna, also owns the property in the City’s name.
Joanna Hopcraft told local media that her family will be selling the house to a “local family” for $2.8 million.
Joann Hopcraft said that they will be buying the property “so that the family can keep their dream home in Fremont, California, for their future.”
